Focus and Scope

The Journal of Social Intervention: Theory and Practice is an academic journal that aims to make available academic research and reflections on practice in social intervention in The Netherlands and Flanders to an international readership of academics and professionals. The journal focuses on the interface between social policy, organizational innovation, development of methods and professional practice. The subjects featured in the journal are not restricted to any specific domain of intervention, since social intervention is a relevant concept to different domains, such as social pedagogy, social work, community and organizational development, adult education, local social policy, and different sectors of care (e.g. youth care).

The target readership of the journal includes teachers in higher vocational and university education, academics from a range of disciplines, practising social workers and policy officials involved in solving social issues as part of their work.

Publication Frequency

The Journal of Social Intervention: Theory and Practice is published four times a year, Februari, June, October and December

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Archiving Policy

To ensure permanency of all publications, this journal utilises CLOCKSS archiving systems to create permanent archives for the purposes of preservation and restoration.

Publishing process

Articles may be submitted in English, Dutch or ideally in both languages. Authors are requested to provide a summary of their submission in both languages. If required, the journal may have a summary corrected or translated. Any articles written by authors in a language other than their mother tongue will also be corrected by native speakers.
Before online publication, proofs of the articles are sent to the authors. In view of the possibility of error in converting Word files to HTML/PDF, authors are requested to double-check the proofs. The article will not be published online until its author has approved the definitive version.
